Horror is a great genre: you typically either love horror films or you hate them. Their aim is to terrify the audience and get as big a reaction as possible. The fear factor plays a huge role in the success of horrors with some doing this perfectly, like the Paranormal Activity franchise.
For some of us, watching a great horror film can be our guilty pleasure. Here are seven horror films still to come out in cinemas in 2017 – are you brave enough to go and watch them?

This American supernatural horror is a prequel to 2014’s Annabelle and the fourth film in The Conjuring film series. Annabelle: Creation follows a doll maker and his wife who, 20 years after the tragic death of their little girl, welcome a nun and several orphans into their home, only to see them targeted by the possessed titular creation. Since its premiere at the LA Film Festival, it has received critical acclaim.

This American horror stars Shay Mitchell (from Pretty Little Liars) as a disgraced ex-cop and recovering addict who takes a job at the morgue of a hospital in which she gets sober. Soon after a mysterious and brutally massacred body is delivered, she begins to witness terrorising and violent murders, leading her to face off against an evil entity.

This horror film centres around a high school loner who has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the mysterious Polaroid vintage camera she stumbles upon, but it doesn’t take her long to discover that those who have their picture taken meet a tragic end.

New Line Cinemas adaptation of Stephen King’s landmark novel follows a group of teens who defeat the titular creature, who then returns years later to torment the adults who now have no memory of the first battle. If this much-anticipated film is as scary as the original, the audience is in for a real fright! It is intended to be the first instalment in a planned duology.

This American sci-fi psychological horror is a sequel to the 1990 film of the same name. It follows a group of medical students who conduct near-death experiments to explore the afterlife, to disastrous consequences.

This long-running Lionsgate franchise picks up over a decade after the death of the eponymous jigsaw killer during the investigation of a new succession of murders. This eighth instalment of the Saw franchise gets a fresh makeover, with a new storyline and new characters.

This American horror thriller follows a vacationing mother and her daughters as they fight for survival upon stumbling into a psychopath’s bizarre nightmare. This upcoming thriller will leave you on the edge of your seat!
